Seasonal Farm Assistant

Start Date: April - October 2026 (but we’re flexible)

Fat Sheep Farm is hiring for a farm assistant. This is a unique position. While we produce a lot of food, we are also a farm stay business. We need someone who enjoys traditional farm work, as well as enjoys talking to all kinds of people.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn everything we do on the farm, including milking sheep; helping with lambing season; growing and harvesting vegetables, berries, grapes, and grain corn for popping and milling; and maintaining our farm stand.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to learn all aspects of an agritourism business, wants to live in a beautiful place, and is willing to work hard in all weather conditions. There are a couple of other people who work and live on the property and we enjoy having a friendly relationship with everyone. It's an "all in the family" approach to the workplace. Everyone has their privacy but it is not uncommon that we would head out together to listen to some music or celebrate a birthday.

Housing on site. It's a private studio apartment, with full kitchen, a great view out a big window, and a private entrance. The compensation range for the job is wide because of the on-site housing which cannot be easily accounted for in the Indeed standard form.

This is a seasonal position which could start as early as April 1 (or a bit later), and would run through at least September, with the option to stay a couple more months. We are currently planning on a four day workweek, 8 hours per day, which would be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. These workdays are non-negotiable. If someone were interested in working five days/week, we would be open to adding another day as well.

You must be able to lift 50 pound and be willing to approach the work with a positive attitude, sense of humor, and a commitment to be efficient, flexible, and helpful.

Please include with your application:

(1) your resume;

(2) a letter of interesting explaining why you want to spend the summer at Fat Sheep Farm

(3) three references.

We promise to respond to your email promptly. We are hoping to finalize our choice at the end January/beginning of February to start in the spring, so please respond as soon as possible. We are already interviewing candidates. Thank you for considering applying! No phone calls please.
